CLARITAS DENIED

CLARITAS DENIED

BY Mark Head

The man who came and stayed and died
The man who never was
His spectre yearns full form denied
A hanging shadow seeking
Tied to ancient floors

The floor is mud is dust again
Is now a plain once more
Interrupted then and then
By mounded floor on floor.

Still man tries on the train of time
To struggle for his sun
What is this part of man again
Dares waxen wingéd clutter
To Light Utter
Not of any planet’s sun?

The floor is mud is dust again
Is now a plain once more
Interrupted then and then
By mounded floor on floor.

The builders Pride and Arrogance flung tall towers up bricks high
Crude penes to the heavens
But the shaken fist their shadows are
All powers silent fuse
For their images in timely sands
Hide the dragon’s seeded tooth.

Still neural lilies such the silent dross
From past pits of man’s quick time
Still questioning roots like delving fingers questing
Answers passed by ancients’ answers past.

Paired orbs convoluted, its trailing branch a stem
That neural lily supple, flower again, again
Open up orbs’ mould, dense bone of mind the shutter
Hides the light that should be there
Why is intellect a gutter?

Risen flower withers now, slow, then after, faster
Man’s failing floor surrenders to the lapping sands of earth
Moulded plain self smoothing, earth the level master
Man’s ziqqurats reconstitute for yet another virgin birth.

The floor is mud is dust again
Is now a plain once more
Interrupted then and then
By mounded floor on floor.
